Stop Sewage Dumping

Thames Water pumped sewage into the River Wandle for nearly 124 hours over the last three years.

The Conservatives are letting them get away with it and want taxpayers to pay to fix the problem.

Water companies need to clean up their own mess and stop dumping sewage in our water.

Back our campaign calling for the Government to start dealing with this issue properly, to tax water company profits and to ban water company executive bonuses:

Local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Cllr Paul Kohler, calls for protection of local rivers: “It is outrageous to see our Conservative MP betray our local community and environment in Parliament. Their job should be to stand up for our local area. Our rivers are being polluted all too often by water companies, showing a complete disregard for our environment. Enough is enough, we need action before our local River Wandle is ruined forever.

“Rivers should be safe for leisure, fishing and sustaining wildlife. Yet today, many are filled with raw sewage and human waste which will destroy them for decades to come. For some areas, our rivers are a source of drinking water, yet today, they are a dumping ground for water companies. “I am proud Liberal Democrats in Parliament are leading the fight to protect our local rivers.

"Please join me in signing our pledge to protect the River Wandle and rivers across England and to call on all MPs to introduce meaningful requirements on water companies to cease discharging sewage into our rivers."

I pledge to fight for clean waterways and to campaign against this Conservative government's disregard for our environment.
